Corruption in the Albanian government has become a persistent problem which has hindered the country’s progress for years. Albania scored 42 points on the Corruption Perceptions Index in 2024, which ranks 80th out of 180 countries. This corruption has prevented Albania from joining the European Union. Corruption has undermined investment and corruption continues to exist among government officials.
